17 Reasons To Not Be Ignoring Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet messes (spills and stains) in one time without having to swap out devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins, refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads with an appropriate dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It’s among the easiest robots to set up that we’ve tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start guide can get you up and running in no time. It comes with the complete dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that is able to clean up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you’d like to do for each room.
For instance, you can decide to let the robot take care of a thorough clean-up in the living and kitchen areas but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only drawback is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at full speed. However looking at the cleaning history on the app will reveal exactly what the robot completed, where it’s traveling, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
The docking station features an LCD display that indicates when maintenance is needed like emptying the debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank using a 600ml bottle of eufy’s own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time, with the mop able to operate for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easily understood, though we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock’s most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most recent version. This year’s model has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity which allows it to pull up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners could miss.
Like the two other Roborock models I’ve tested it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, and determine if they are walls or other surfaces. It can then change its course automatically and clean them without missing a step.
It’s the most expensive of the three models I’ve reviewed but it’s also the most loaded with features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it only has three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it’s not easy to take the mount off for manual washing. I’ve noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery’s lifespan. You’ll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. It’s a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop that has outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and a variety of innovative features. Its innovative design allows for customised and efficient cleaning while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair, crumbs and other dry debris. It comes with a mop that is top quality that cleans hard floors without the use of pads. Additionally the X40 is extremely quiet during its operation, with only occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.
Another noteworthy feature is the X40’s expandable and liftable side brushes, which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners and clean furniture such as table and chair legs. It can also get under furniture with low profile which makes it a great option for apartments with small spaces or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Contrary to other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is easy to use and understand The X40 has many smart features that are simple to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, alter modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it’s done.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features which make it a good option for busy families. The docking station automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It will also tell you the moment when the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it spills.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that’s among the most expensive available and comes with numerous extra features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature as it stops the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. It’s a system that we haven’t yet seen on other robot vacuum and mop models and it could be a great method to keep your home clean for longer.
There’s a wealth of options available which include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a number of different preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or there are buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also comes with many features that aren’t offered on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we’ve seen on market, with metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It’s a bit heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list, at 4kg – but it’s not obscenely heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
